The Romantic Bible

Romanticism (which took place towards the end of the 18th century) was a glorious and most beautiful gift to this world. Some of the greatest and most revolutionary works of art came from this period. We need a revival of the best aspects of this movement in the present day, for it is through Romanticism that the seemingly impossible is made real.

Novalis taught us well in his divine "Philosophical Writings" of how true magic is the art of consciously influencing the interior world. (or "art of using the world of the senses at will"). By doing this we can transform our entire reality into the most beautiful world imaginable.

Some of the most important aspects of Romanticism which we continue to hold admiration for in this present day movement are:

• A great emphasis is placed on the power of the imagination to envision and escape to new realms and worlds, especially distant, exotic and unfamiliar territories.

• The individual imagination is viewed as a critical authority to be trusted and pursued, permitting freedom in art to diverge from the standard methods.

• An emphasis is placed on strong emotion and spontaneity in our creations.

• Folk art and symbols, patterns, creations, decorations, traditional and cultural items, as well as jewelry, clay, wood, paper, stones, metal and other natural creations for the purpose of personal expression are all elevated to a noble status.

• Artistic creations and inspirations are used to escape from the confines of industrialism and growing problems in the world.

• We are made up of gifted, free, inspired, sensitive, charismatic and ruthlessly unconventional artists, poets, musicians, writers, thinkers, creators and yet misunderstood loners, who creatively follow their inspiration and spontaneously live by the whims of their hearts, instead of the standard ways of contemporary society.

• We are strong and heroic individuals and artists who teach by example and elevate society to higher levels.

• We have a great love for nature and its beauty (a place free from society’s judgments and restrictions) and a desire to protect and serve it.

• The arts reflect a new sense of individuality and total freedom.

• We carry a wide range of styles in music and the arts.

• Musicians/Artists attempt to create unexplored alternate universes, adding new dimensions to their work.

• Ways of creating are revolutionized and things that would have previously been considered unconventional or absurd, are utilized and made possible.

• Fantasy, imagination and a quest for adventure all play an important part in creation.

• Listening to music is accepted as a life-enhancing, spiritual experience.

• Artists can be identified by their distinctive individuality, forms of expression, styles and so forth, rather than what we are used to in the current world, where everything is the same.

• We are revolutionary spirits, dedicated to creating the art of the future and a strong belief in building our own world of the heart and not abiding by particularly outworn systems.

• We are discontent with society, while introducing new and revolutionary ways of living, with a wilder, untrammeled and “pure” nature.

• We embrace duality in the sense of an ever-changing nature within people. Sometimes uplifting, while other times melancholic, and hopeless.

• Great emphasis is also placed on the unfolding of the self, discovering who one really is and being content to embrace and develop those individual qualities.

• Strong belief in freedom of expression and emotion without any fear of ridicule or controversy.

• All art in general is created for the people and not only the wealthy aristocracy.

• Religion is rooted in the inner world of the human spirit, so that it is an individual’s feeling or sensibility about spiritual matters that comprises their religion.

• The answers nature can give us should not generally be obtained by force, but rather by co-operation.

• Creativity, experience and genius are deeply encouraged.

• A desire to co-exist peacefully and in harmony with nature.

• The history of the universe can be interpreted through natural spiritual methods.

• The possibility of salvation can be completely discovered through the contemplation and understanding of nature and ourselves.

• We desire to reunite humans with paradise, and our natural state in the Garden of Eden: The Golden Age.

• We do not view the world as full of objects that merely function, but rather as living beings with sentiments…therefore understanding nature requires an attitude of love and admiration.

• We seek to respectfully understand the history of the earth, the solar system, and the meaning of the universe, as well as all of its inhabitants.

• We investigate mental states, conscious and unconscious, normal and abnormal, and we try to uncover the hidden forces of nature such as electricity, magnetism and so forth.

• Vegetarianism is greatly encouraged. Animal life is deeply respected.
